RhinestonesDirect was started in 2004 primarily as an Ebay business set up to distribute a custom-made product called "BlingKits." As business grew, we began to sell Swarovski crystals by the gross, attempting to carry a robust inventory of almost every color and size. In 2005, we began to sell our custom-developed application kits as a separate kit without crystals. After launching our own web site in 2006, we began to tour the Eastern half of the country setting up booths at ice skating competitions, where the skating Moms had taken a great liking to the time-saving abilities of the application kit, as well as the steep discount we offered on crystals by the gross. However, by 2007, it became apparent that the "carry every color and size" inventory model was not the best one, as all of our money was constantly tied up in inventory on the shelves. It was then that we decided to become strictly a quantity seller of crystals. We still maintain the same great application tools, except now we specialize in helping bulk buyers and businesses and sell by the pack only.
